Covenant Class is the first step to membership at Grace. Covenant Class is designed for you to learn more about Grace Community Church and evaluate whether or not you wish to become a part of the membership. The term covenant means agreement or contract. In Biblical terms it refers to God’s promise to the human race. Our desire for those who wish to belong to Grace Community Church is to enter into covenant with us.
During this class, we will focus on the history and vision that the founders of Grace felt the Lord had for this local body of believers, as well as our Statement of Faith, the church constitution, and what it means to covenant with Grace. In addition, you’ll hear from each member of the pastoral staff about their area of ministry. There will also be opportunities to ask questions and find out more about the church and its function.
In order to become a Covenantor at Grace, you must attend the all of the Covenant Classes, submit your personal testimony, meet with two elders (you will sign up for a 30 minute slot), and sign the Covenant of Fellowship. You will hear more about these things throughout your time in Covenant Class.
Baptism is a covenant commitment not only on God’s part, but on the part of His people as well.
Baptism symbolizes 4 truths of how God works in a person’s life:
- We are united with Christ by virtue of His death and in the power of His resurrection.
- It symbolizes the forgiveness of our sins.
- It signifies the receiving of the Holy Spirit.
- Our adoption into the covenant family of God.
Baptism is a sign of believing faith where we look back to what God has done in those 4 ways in the life of a believer.
Annually in August, we gather at a lake for the celebration of baptisms. These and other upcoming baptisms are listed on The City Plaza. Visit the Plaza for information and to register.
