Naturally Supernatural Gallery

We are incredibly blessed to have Danny Worm, artist of True Image Illustration, create these illustrations of our sermon series, Naturally Supernatural. Each week we will be adding to this gallery.

“NATURALLY SUPERNATURAL”
Watercolor w Pen & ink

Here we see that a person is made up of a spirit, soul, and body.  When we  invite Jesus into our life, His Spirit flows in, unites with ours, and we move from death to life. This union is unshakeable.   It cannot be disconnected, and is a guarantee of our salvation. (Ephesians 1:13-14). So, for a believer, the deepest part of who we are is, by nature, alive with Christ! Now, our soul and body fluctuate all of the time, from joy to sorrow, from health to sickness, unbelief to belief….Walking in the supernatural is the process of learning how to allow the Holy Spirit’s life to flow from our spirit, out into our soul and body, and then out to others. The access to this new life was made for us by Jesus’ work on the cross.  His wounds have been endured for our forgiveness and healing. We receive this Spirit by grace through faith. The image on the upper right is of Jesus walking out of the tomb on the third day. We now can walk with confidence and identify ourselves with His glorious resurrection power to do the good works that Jesus did. We are becoming naturally supernatural.
“THE PROPHETIC WORD”
Watercolor with Pen & Ink

Here I am illustrating the reality that God can speak in miraculous ways directly between one another as believers.  The tongue of fire represents the power and presence of the Holy Spirit as the word is spoken forth in faith.  The Holy Scriptures are open below to represent the truth of God permeating the spoken word.  I don’t believe this means a spoken word has to have scripture verbatim in it’s message, but it must accurately represent the Father’s good and loving heart as it is revealed in the Bible.  God is so much more intimately acquainted with us than we realize and although He knows the very depths of our souls, He only has good thoughts about us, so many good thoughts! (See Psalm 139.) These spoken words from a loving brother or sister are just some of those good thoughts He wants us to hear.
“DIVINE HEALING”
Watercolor with Mixed Media

Here is a painting depicting a journey to healing. I believe the Lord want us to be whole in spirit, soul, and body.  (3 John 1:2 NIV).  A believer’s spirit has already been completely made new in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17-18).

The hope for our soul’s healing is found in Jesus’ work on the cross as well. Isaiah 53:5a says: “The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him…”.  Through Christ a believer has peace with our Father in heaven.  There is now no conflict between us and ultimate love…what an amazingly healing statement.

Isaiah 53:5b refers to His provision to heal our body for “…by His wounds we are healed.” Matthew 8:16-17 confirms this is referring to physical healing:
“When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.””

God loves pulling us out of the shattered wreckage of our lives into complete wholeness as we respond to His loving invitation.
“HEAVENLY TONGUE”
Watercolor w pen & ink and mixed media

“…With foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to this people, to whom he said “This is the resting place, let the weary rest”; and , “This is the place of repose…”    Isaiah 28:11-12, and 1 Corinthians 14:20

“Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves…”  1 Corinthians 14:1-5
Speaking in tongues can be used publicly in a church gathering or privately in personal prayer with the Lord.  Both, if used in line with scripture, will be edifying and will build up those involved.  Publicly one should ask for an interpretation so that everyone may be encouraged with these spirit taught words spoken directly by the Spirit of God through a person.  Privately, one can speak and also ask for an interpretation.  Scripture says it is a place of rest; a place where a person’s spirit can speak directly with God’s spirit and we can re-center ourselves in the loving presence of the Lord.

“DELIVERANCE!”
Watercolor w pen & ink and mixed media

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Ephesians 6:12 NIV

In the scriptures Jesus gave His disciples authority to cast out evil spirits and He still does so today. God Himself responds when a believer uses his or her God-gifted authority to deliver someone oppressed by the devil. As with sin,  much sickness and mental illness can be directly influenced by demonic powers and God wants us to use what He has given us to combat the forces of evil in our lives and the lives of our neighbors. May we glorify God more and more as we see His goodness and power overtake the enemy and dispel the darkness!
