VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Please click each opportunity to sign up.

OVERNIGHT VOLUNTEERS (men only) – Come and serve overnight with our Winter Emergency Shelter. Arrive at 7:00pm, eat dinner with the shelter residents, and then assist the Night Manager with getting the men to the showers, helping with set up needs, and just hanging out with the residents. Then from lights out at 10:00pm until wakeup call at 5:30am, you will either be on a shift where you can sleep for a bit or where you are awake to make sure everyone stays safe. You can head out at 6:45am the next morning.

GREETERS – It makes a great deal of difference to have a friendly face welcoming our residents each night as they check in at the shelter. Greeters welcome our residents at the door, check them in, and make sure we get the info that we need from them before they begin settling in for the night. The time commitment is 6:45-8:00. Greeters who serve regularly have a great chance to get to know the men who stay at Grace.

MEALS – Each night we provide a meal for our 12 residents, our Night Manager, and our overnight volunteers. Sign up here to bring food for 15 (or bring more if you and your group want to eat with us as well). **Please arrive by 7pm, ready to serve dinner at 7:15pm**

SNACK BAGS – Each day we send our residents out with a simple snack bag that has a boxed juice/water bottle, a protein, a fruit, and something salty. Bags can be in the form of brown paper bags or gallon size Ziploc bags. If including a perishable item, please bring separately so that can be refrigerated. Sign up here to provide 12 snack bags (one per resident per day), and if you want to bring the bags to the church before your date that you signed up for, you can bring it by during office hours MON-WED (10a-3p) or on Sunday mornings. (Office is closed December 23 – 29 for Christmas and January 1.) Please have your snack bags dropped off by the evening before the date you signed up for.

-Drink suggestions: bottle of water (always nice to add a flavor packet), Gatorade/sport drink, juice.
-Protein suggestions: Vienna sausages, meat and cheese sticks, boiled eggs, ham, turkey, or pb&j sandwich, tuna packet.
-Fruit suggestions: preferably non perishable, i.e. fruit cups, applesauce cups, etc.

*Anything perishable needs to be packed separately so it can be refrigerated.
