VOLUNTEER NEEDS

Missionary Care Team: We have a few spots opening up on our Missionary Care Team. This team connects with our missionaries, prays for them individually, and discovers any ways our church can directly serve them. If you’d like to know more about what’s involved, please email missions@gracegso.org

Grace Kids Teachers: We need a couple more volunteers to pour the love of God into our kids! If you’re interested in teaching, please contact Lee at lsimmons@gracegso.org.

WCF Discipleship Team: Wednesdays 5:30pm – 7pm. Our Wednesday Community Fellowship is seeking to develop a Discipleship Team. We would love a team of 6-8 people who are dedicated to teach on Wednesdays and to meet together to strategically care for and disciple the WCF community. If you are interested in applying for the discipleship team, please email volunteer@gracegso.org for an application and more details.

Photography Team: We love sharing photos of events with our local community so they can see what Grace is about, but we need your help! If you have an eye for photography (experience preferred, but certainly not required), help us take action photos of events you may already be attending. Please email Lauren: lhatfield@gracegso.org

A Special Message from Brian May, Elder Chairman

Dear Grace Family,

For those of you who may have missed the service this past Sunday (9/25/22), the elders wanted to update you on our financial condition.

Coming into the summer, we were in very good condition given the gifts the church had received for the fiscal year through May. We had a certain amount of what we call “anticipated giving” that we had planned on receiving over the summer. Of course all of this is guess work because we do not know how often or how much our people will give!

With that said, actual giving over the summer came in lower than we had planned for – and as you know we just began our new fiscal year this month and we are continuing to see less in financial gifts than we had anticipated.

We felt it was time to make it known to the congregation and to ask you to pray for the financial support of the church and to ask the Spirit if you are being led to increase your giving or to begin giving. We understand that inflation has hit everyone and there is a lot of economic uncertainty these days. We are not interested in putting pressure on anyone to give.

We simply believe that Grace church exists for a reason – we have been called to gather to make disciples who make disciples crossing ethnic and economic lines and to care for the community God has placed us in. We do this through the gifts of our people.

We also don’t want to just get by financially, we want to be in a position to fund ministries and opportunities to care for folks in our footprint. We don’t have an endowment or other sources of funds – we are debt free and we try to run a lean operation here, and so that has freed us to do things like the Pandemic Relief Fund where we had an unexpected surplus and we were led to give it away. We have savings, and we are using those savings now to make up for our shortfall. That is obviously not a long term strategy for success!

We are the Lord’s and we serve at his pleasure. We exist because he wants us to exist and therefore we live financially by faith. We believe that when he calls he also provides – so we are seeking his provision now and ask for your prayers as we do so.

Grace & Peace,

Brian May
Elder Chairman
