Mobilize: Serving During the Crisis

In this season of the Covid-19 crisis we want to show Christ love and presence to our neighbors, co-workers and city. Here are some ways you can practice prayer and care for those around you in this season of stay at home.

1. PRAYER

  • Sign up at Bless Every Home to get a daily list of five neighbors. Be sure to connect to Grace as your church once you log in. Use this card to pray B.L.E.S.S. for them.
  • Go on a prayer walk in your neighborhood, around your office, downtown. Use the B.L.E.S.S. card to pray as you walk.
  • Offer a prayer gathering for your neighbors either on Zoom or in your yard (6 feet apart from each other of course)

2. CARE

Around your home, office, or with family and friends:

  • Set up a Zoom happy hour, coffee time, game night for folks who might be isolated around you. Here is a list of games you can easily play on Zoom.
  • Write a note to neighbors letting them know you are praying for them and encouraging them to reach out if they need to talk or help.
  • Make or send dinner through dinner dash to folks around you who are front-liners, single parents, or working with vulnerable people (foster kids, seniors, refugees…) with a note about how much you appreciate them and that you are praying for them.
  • Join a team to help canvas in the Glenwood neighborhood. Help identify those in need & pass out information about the Pandemic Relief Fund. Contact Lee Simmons if you are interested.

Help the Vulnerable in Grace’s Geographic Footprint and in Greensboro:

  • Greensboro Urban Ministry: Healthy volunteers are needed to help fill grocery orders in the Food Pantry (Tu, Thurs, & Fri) and Potter’s House community kitchen can use volunteers to help package and hand out to-go meals during breakfast and lunch. Here is the link to volunteer.
  • Food Pantry: GUM is also in need of donations to the Food Pantry. They are especially low on peanut butter, canned meats & canned fruits. The address for the Food Pantry loading dock (drop off location) is: 1002 S. Eugene Street, Greensboro, NC, 27406.
  • Interactive Resource Center:They are housing the homeless in hotels. If you would like to sponsor a meal for hotel guests, please contact John Thornton at john@ircgso.org
