Brent Gerald

Brent was born in Brooklyn, NY, but raised in Greensboro, NC. His spiritual foundation started at Hayes Memorial United Holiness Church, where he served on the Junior Usher Board and sang in the Male Chorus. Brent accepted Christ at the age of twelve in 1975.

Brent attended primary, intermediate, and secondary school and college in Greensboro. He is a proud graduate (‘85) of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He was also commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve in 1985 and served in  Operation Desert Storm /Shield(1991) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-2004). He was awarded two Bronze Stars for meritorious service during combat operation and sustainment operations. After retiring in 2013 as a Lieutenant Colonel, he joined the Greensboro Fire Department in 1987. He currently serve as the Deputy Fire Chief of the Support Services Branch.

Brent has been married to Sheila Gerald for almost 34 years. They have two adult daughters, Alexandria and Olivia. He began attending Grace in 2004, and he and his wife found that Grace met many of their needs for a church family.  They found it to be an excellent place for the spiritual development of children, with the word of God is preached in the pulpit, and being a church that lives up to its mission.  Since becoming a covenanter, Brent has been active in Grace. He helped with the WE Shelters and attended numerous Men’s Weekends. He has been an active Men’s Leadership Team member for the past nine years and has helped plan and worked on multiple projects and programs the Men’s Leadership Team sponsored. In December 2022, he joined the Grace Music Team.

Brent actively seeks to understand the Lord’s will for his life through prayer, daily reading, activity participating in accountability groups, and diving deeper into the Sunday message throughout the week. Brent wants to be a credible witness for the Gospel and Grace Community Church.
